Innovation is the life blood of the medtech industry. This Award will recognize the efforts of an individual, team, or company that developed an innovative medical device or diagnostic that makes significant contributions to advancing patient treatment, and was launched between January 1, 2017- May 31, 2018. The judges will be looking for the product that represents the most innovative new approach to care by addressing an unmet clinical need; by changing the practice of health care to be more effective, efficient or less error-prone; or by expanding technology to new patient populations.
To be eligible, entrants must have played a role in the core project for the product.
To enter this category, please provide the following:
Start-ups need solid financial backing to help take their innovations through the journey from bench to market. This award will recognize the fundraising efforts of a start-up or emerging company with potentially disruptive technologies, and judges will be looking out for fundraising strategy, amount raised, the business case put forward to win investors' backing, deal structure, the calibre of investors, unusual syndicates among other things.
This award is open only to companies that are raising/have raised the funds (i.e., not bankers or agents), and it is for earlier-stage venture financing rounds i.e. Series A or Series B. To be eligible, the financing deal in question must be ongoing or completed between January 1, 2017- May 31, 2018.

The Best Company in an Emerging Market Award seeks to reward the growing R&D-based medical technology industry founded in areas beyond its traditional geographic borders of North America, Western Europe and Japan.
This Award is open to any research-based medical technology company that has its headquarters in an emerging market.
The judges will be looking for excellent performance across a range of business activities between January 1, 2017- May 31, 2018. This could mean anything from growing sales and profits to launching new products, or signing a transformative new deal.
Companies eligible for this Award are those based in emerging markets in Asia, central and eastern Europe, Central and South America, the Middle East and Africa.

This Award will be presented to two or more organizations whose joint activity during 2017 has set a new benchmark in partnering activity. Partnerships could take place between multiple medical technology and/or pharmaceutical companies or between a medical technology company and a contract research organization, research institute, non-profit, or cooperative group.
To be eligible, the collaborative partnership activity in question must be ongoing or completed between January 1, 2017- May 31, 2018.
Entrants must have played a role in the collaborative partnership activity, and all joint parties must be disclosed in the application.
To enter this category, please provide the following:
This Award will recognize the device or diagnostic clinical trial that has had the greatest impact in 2017/8 and is expected to lead to an advance in healthcare. The judges will be looking to reward the clinical trial with the largest commercial impact, highest impact on patient population, the greatest disruption in a market, or the advancement of clinical trial design. This might include the first demonstration of a clear clinical effect for a new device/diagnostic in an area of unmet medical need, a pivotal study of a new device/diagnostic with a breakthrough technology or mechanism of action, or a major study of a potential new or expanded indication for an already marketed product.
To be eligible, results for the study in question must have been presented in the public domain between January 1, 2017- May 31, 2018.
Entrants must have played a role in the clinical study, and all joint parties must be disclosed in the application.

This Award will recognize the medical technology team who have made significant contributions in the device and diagnostic space between January 1, 2017- May 31, 2018. The judges will be looking to reward the high performing team that has been most successful in reaching its goals, adopted innovative working practices, achieved major milestones within expected timelines, and contributed to the advancement of medical technology for unmet medical needs.
To be eligible, the core project for the nominated team must be ongoing or completed during 2017/8.
Entrants must have played a role in the core project for the product.

This Award will recognize a company or division that has taken an innovative or creative approach to demonstrating the value of its product(s) to the health-care sector. Examples may include approaches to data collection, partnerships with providers or insurers, or other models that serve to demonstrate a products value to providers, patients and other health-care stakeholders between January 1, 2017- May 31, 2018.

The winner of this Award will be an individual with an impressive track record of starting up medtech businesses, taking products down the regulatory/clinical pathway and into the market. Or could be a more commercial-focused individual who has shown the ability to spot a business opportunity and capitalize on it, break a new technology into the marketplace, successfully scaled up a business and taken it through to an exit.
For this Award, candidates must be nominated by a third party. The nomination should outline in no more than 500 words the nominee's track record of entrepreneurship and why they are worthy of this Award.
