London – 3 May, 2019 – Last evening, Informa Pharma Intelligence announced the winners of the Annual Clinical and Research Excellence (CARE) Awards during a gala celebration at the Hyatt Regency in Boston, Massachusetts. Now in its fourth year, the CARE Awards drew a crowd of pharmaceutical, CRO and life science solutions leaders from companies both large and small, who gathered to celebrate the achievements of those working in clinical research. Categories for the awards span the full life cycle of drug development, recognizing the achievements of those who work to advance global human health by bringing new medicines to market, and the winners of these prestigious trophies were as diverse as the categories themselves.
Bristol-Myers Squibb, ICON and Latitude kicked things off with a win for Best in Health Economics and Outcomes Research. Additional winners announced during the ceremony include Takeda (Best Patient-Centric Clinical Trial), Medicines360 (Clinical Trial Result of the Year), Eidos Therapeutics (Excellence in Rare Disease Drug Development), the joint collaboration of ICON and Eli Lilly and Company (Clinical Research Team of the Year), Oracle Health Sciences (Best Sponsor-Focused Technological Development), and others.

“The CARE Awards is a very special evening where we honor and celebrate those in Clinical R&D who through their passion and commitment, work to discover and develop new drugs,” says Karen Currie, Executive Director of Citeline. “It takes on average 10 years to develop a new medicine, and these remarkable individuals persist and push for the next breakthrough, driven to find a cure, extend a life, or alleviate human suffering. The work they do is vital and has a global impact on healthcare.”
The CARE Awards also honored the contributions of Dr. Charles DeLisi, whose extraordinary career as a scientist spans decades of academic and public service. In addition to his innovative application of mathematical concepts to advance immunology and cell biology, Dr. DeLisi played a pivotal role in the launch of the Human Genome Project, which forms the foundation for development of many of today’s new medicines.
