We are pleased to announce that from mid-February 2022, C+D Data will provide the UK supply chain with additional product listings and associated PIP-codes for Northern Ireland (NI) and Great Britain (GB.)  This solution will allow you to reach the entire UK market quickly and facilitate the ordering and distribution of medicines without disruption to you, and your wholesalers – while ensuring the data’s accuracy, visibility, and long-term management.

These codes will be verified, distributed, and managed by C+D to ensure that the medicines data underpinning the UK supply chain from manufacturer all the way through to patient remains accurate, supporting the safe and accurate distribution of medicines.

Q: What are the additional PIP codes, and when will they become active?
A: Beginning in mid-February 2022, C+D will provide the UK supply chain with additional PIP-codes for Northern Ireland (NI) and Great Britain (GB). These codes will be verified, distributed, and managed by C+D to ensure that the medicines data underpinning the UK supply chain from manufacturer all the way through to patient remains accurate, supporting the safe and accurate distribution of medicines.
NI and GB codes will be allocated and verified by C+D from our 5-series PIP-codes (series 6, 7 and 8 codes WILL NOT be valid) ensuring each product continues to have a unique identifier for use across the supply chain.
Important: To avoid data duplication, complexity, errors, and data rollbacks, manufacturers should NOT use codes from wholesalers’ ‘user code blocks’; series 6, 7 and 8 codes WILL NOT be valid for GB and NI products.

Q: Will product descriptions remain the same?
A: The product description will remain the same with an additional suffix (NI or GB) in the description, indicating it as either a NI or GB product.

Q: Will the process to list products remain the same?
A: The process to list products will remain the same and we will require manufacturers to come direct to C+D with the following product information: product description, product region, PL and GTIN.

Q: Will product reports be made available?
A:  C+D will generate and distribute bespoke product reports, for those that require them, for visibility on the NI and GB products listed.
UK, NI and GB products will be included in all currently available extracts (API / Csv / Xml) and the Change report.  Only GB products will be included in the monthly printed price book.

Q: Is listing my products with C+D still a free service?
A: Yes. Listing your products with C+D remains a FREE service following the same process for manufacturers. We will require you to come direct to the C+D data entry portal with the following product information: product description, product region, PL and GTIN.

Q: I’m a Northern Ireland pharmacy. What changes should I expect?
A: The updates we have made to our system and processes allow you to continue to order products as you always have done.  As a Northern Ireland pharmacy, manufacturers and wholesalers will have the information required to link your order to the product that is licensed for Northern Ireland, so that you can be confident that when you order a product, the correct product for your region will arrive. NI products will appear in your PMR system, so that you can order same as usual.

Q: Where can I go for more information?
A: Please contact devi.patel@informa.com.
